Welcome!.....

The Great Amwell and District branch of Cats Protection was founded in 1947, and celebrates it's 65th Anniversary this year!!

Initially it was the aim of the late Miss Harvey, daughter of the vicar of Great Amwell Church, to care for stray cats and kittens in the parish area, by finding new homes, welfare advice, education and neutering.

Today the branch covers a much larger area and cover the following postcodes:

SG11  SG12 SG13 AND SG14    EN10 AND  EN11

It is Cats Protection mission to help unwanted and abandoned felines, rehabilitating and rehoming them where possible, but the work doesn't stop there!

We also seek to alleviate the problem of unwanted cats, by offering information and advice about responsible cat ownership and promoting neutering as the only effective solution.

Our mission is based upon the charity's three key aims

To help stray and unwanted cats and kittens, rehabilitating and rehoming where possible.

To encourage the neutering of all cats and kittens not required for breeding.

To inform the public about the care of cats and kittens.

Volunteering Opportunities.........

We have great volunteering opportunities to suit everyone.  Whatever time you can give is greatly appreciated..

We are currently looking to find new fosterers within the area our branch covers..  Our fosterers offer temporary care for our cats and kittens.  Full support and training is available.  For more information, please speak to our Welfare officer by calling the Helpline number.
